At 48.2 million, India already had the highest number of malnourished children in the world. Given the closure of government healthcare centres & midday meal systems during the lockdown, this number will only rise as more underprivileged children are unable to get healthcare and nutrition. In fact, a recent study predicts that 3 lakh children may die of malnutrition in the next 6 months.
